Minnesota Sports Champion award, 1958

Coach Win Brockmeyer was he the most successful high school football coach in the history of Wisconsin. Although his coaching hit its stride after coming to Wausau from Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

So significant was Win Brockmeyer, that in 1958 the state of Minnesota recognized him as a “Minnesota Sports Champion” as part of their state Centennial celebration. In addition to being recognized for his sporting excellence and accomplishments, the award also apparently entitled Brockmeyer and fellow recipients priority when buying tickets to the big centennial celebration dinner. Although it does not appear as though Win made the trip to MN for the occasion.
