For nearly 36 years, the people of the Wausau area enjoyed travel by electric streetcars. But the trolleys' tenure came to an end in 1940 though, when it was decided to transition to buses. This is that story.

The Coin

This coin was issued by the Wisconsin Public Service to commemorate the ending of the era of the Streetcars and the start of all bus service in Wausau.

A New Era

Norma Schmidt, as Queen of Transportation, oversees the ceremony as Wausau says goodbye to the trolleys and christens a line of new auto buses in a very Wisconsin fashion.
