Background:

Present day plat maps show the remnants of Moon at the intersection of Hwy. O and Moon Rd., straddling the Bergen/Mosinee Townships line. The first settler to locate here was Ed. O'Connor, son of Thomas O'Connor, chairman of the Town of Emmet.



Post Office Established:
December 2, 1891

About The Post Office:

It was located in the SE 1/4 of Section 33 of Mosinee Township. The first rural route out of Mosinee began service on November 1, 1908. It went out towards Moon and Halder resulting in the closing of post offices at those places.



Churches:

Seventh Day Advent Church built in 1894



Schools:

1. Advent School and Cemetery

2. Later a two room school located in the Town of Mosinee.



Industry:

A sawmill established in 1889 by Mssrs. Moon, Kloss and Eyer.  In 1892, the mill was sold to T. H. March who also ran a shingle, lath, and planing mill.

According to the Marchetti book, there was a sawmill in the village (may be the same as above but at a later date) owned and operated by J. Coerper who also kept a general stock of merchandise.



Stories:

One of the important men of Moon was John Gebauer who was a practical woodsman and land agent. He would answer all questions about Moon and was known as "the man in the moon."
