Background:

The village was located  along the Wisconsin Central RR line that ran from Marshfield to Spencer. At Mannville, a Branch of the C&NW ran northeast to Stratford. That was apparently the reason for the development of the community. The 1901 platbook for Spencer Township shows District School #2 at the site. Currently Hwy. 13 runs through the area and crosses N. Frey Rd. Mannville has largely been absorbed into the greater Marshfield area.

See Spencer Township for more information.
