Background:

A dam and a mill laid the foundation for the settlement of Callon, with a fairly large parcel of land being cleared along the north bank of the river.

Settlers coming to Callon were largely Polish farmers.



Churches:

Catholic services were held in the home of Alex Jagler for some time prior to the building of St. Agnes Church in 1910.



Industry:

Roy Gavitt erected a mill in 1894 about 1 1/2 miles north of the Eau Claire River which operated until about 1915.
