This project was started as part of our yearlong observation of the 250th Anniversary of the United States, which we are celebrating in 2026. And even though Marathon County, Wisconsin was not part of the American Revolution back in 1776 (we didn’t exist until 1850), we can and should still celebrate our history here locally. So why not observe the 250th by looking at 25 things from our collections that tell interesting stories about our people?
This project was also supported by Marathon County itself. We applaud their support for local history, in celebrating the historic moment of the A250, and every year.
